I AM HERE (2023)

First person virtual world audiovisual experience

The work addresses the issues of distancing and isolation. It attempts to convey the feelings of loneliness and despair of people who have found themselves in such a situation; the yearning for physical contact and social coexistence.

 

The audience experiences this by finding themselves in a dark void where human forms, trapped in bubbles, float all around. Their arms, just like those of the viewer, are outstretched, reaching to touch the others, trying to connect, but never succeeding. Voices and whispers can be heard from each bubble.

 

"I Am Here" attempts to convey to the viewer the anguish and despair felt by people living in a state of social and emotional isolation, their longing for physical contact and coexistence.
